Stream Music More Seamlessly Than Ever
After a lot of requests over the years, Rithum can finally announce that Spotify Web Connect is now available, adding another way to enjoy your music effortlessly across your smart home. Available as a plugin from our website, Spotify Web Connect makes Rithum even more central your audio experience.
What is Spotify Connect?
Spotify Web Connect lets you select which device is actually playing your Spotify content. With the Rithum Switch now acting as a Spotify control point, your panel becomes part of your Spotify account and audio system.
You’ve probably seen in the Spotify app itself the ability to select which device is playing your content. Well, Rithum is essentially presenting a list of available options for you to select from.
The Spotify plugin also supports multiple accounts, so that all of you family can control their audio.

What other devices use Spotify Connect?
There are many devices beyond your smartphone or laptop that can run Spotify Connect. In fact, it is embedded as a music service in most multiroom audio systems and even AVR’s and some TV’s these days.
All of these are controllable from Rithum, so whilst Rithum integrates with the likes of Sonos and BluOS systems for all of their streaming services, we can now control specifically the Spotify streaming service on many other similar systems such as WiiM, HEOS, MusicCast, Autonomic, and many more.
Differences Between Devices
It’s worth noting that different devices behave slightly differently with Spotify Connect. For example, volume control is only available if the end device itself supports it—fixed-volume devices won’t expose this functionality.
Some devices may also appear or disappear from the list of available players at different times: certain models remain visible even when not in use, while others disappear immediately after playback stops, or only after a few minutes. Since Rithum uses the same API as Spotify’s web player [https://open.spotify.com/], the best way to understand how your devices will behave is to check them there. If a device becomes unavailable, simply starting playback on it again will make it reappear.
This is why we have opted to name this plugin Spotify Web Connect.
Features of Spotify Web Connect on Rithum Switch
With this integration, your Rithum Switch can:
– Act as a Spotify control point
– Display what’s playing (track details, album art where supported)
– Provide play / pause / skip controls directly on the panel
– Adjust volume with a simple tap or swipe (where supported)
– Select from your Spotify Library using the dropdown
– Work seamlessly alongside your other Rithum plugins and integrations
Note that the Spotify Web Connect plugin does not work with Sonos and Sonos users should use the native Rithum Sonos integration.
